Below is a small sample of some of my recent film work.
Having worked as a film director, cinematographer and editor for over 15 years, I have developed a particular sensibility when it comes to my storytelling. I love to bridge the worlds between documentary and drama and to capture a sense of the mystical and magical on screen. My film work explores themes of mental health, wellbeing, feminine wisdom and ancient ritual. I am currently developing a number of feature projects alongside my photography work. I love to weave between these two worlds which compliment each other in many ways, allowing me to flow between the longer term and more collaborative process of directing and the intimate space of my sacred soul shoots.

Anua
Trailer
Anua is an experimental film and sonic journey exploring our relationship to land, language, sound, mythology and the ‘Otherworld’. It is narrated and inspired by the work of Manchán Magan and in particular his work around dinnseanchas (lore of place), placenames, the Irish language and the power of resonance. The film tells a new story following the meeting of Amergin (supposedly our oldest ancestor in Ireland) and the Cailleach (the hag or crone of Irish mythology). Sound, and particularly the sound of Irish words, acts as a portal into another way of experiencing everyday landscapes.

As part of the Love Colin project, this is one of a series of Music Videos I made, with artists doing new versions of songs by prolific and late artist Colin Vearncombe (Black).

An Open Door
Short film ‘An Open Door’ by Aoise Tutty Jackson, explores how Skibbereen’s pioneering adult mental health service, 49 North Street, provides a space for hope and recovery for the local community. The film premiered at the Cork Film Festival 2018 as part of the ‘Best in Cork’ category. Winner of the Community Award at the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival 2019, among other awards.
